This year I decided to take on the challenge of reading 52 books in 52 weeks. I took on this challenge for many reasons.
#1 I love reading, and getting so wrapped up in a book that I can forget about what’s going on around me for a little while.
#2 I watched far too much television! Don’t get me wrong, I love sitting down to some great shows, but I stare at a computer screen all day long and then came home, popped open my laptop and watched TV. My eyes need a break!
#3 I’m currently in the job search process and need a good outlet to relax and de-stress.
#4 I’m bad about sitting at my desk during my lunch hour, and then checking email or answering the phone. We need breaks for a reason, and a good book will take me away from me desk!
#5 I still have so much to learn! I’m reading books related to my career in student affairs, as well as “leisure” books on my “to read” list and recommendations from friends!
I’m on the third book of my adventure! I’ll be reporting back with book reviews soon!
“Reading is sometimes an ingenious device for avoiding thought.”
